Local Artist Profile: Janie Prete

Janie PreteJanie Prete is noted for her brilliant watercolors which captivate her viewers with excitement, dazzle and drama.  Prete’s work is exhibited at the Mattie King Davis Gallery in Beaufort and Handscapes Gallery in Carteret County on the coast.  She has enjoyed solo shows, as well as participation in outside festival shows.  Her exhibits have included the Women’s Center annual show in Chapel Hill, the Maritime Museum in Beaufort and the History Museum in Morehead City.  Originally from Massachusetts, she lived fourteen years on the coast of North Carolina.  She now lives in Clayton with her husband Gerry, and her two cats.

Janie will be showing at Gail O’ Neil’s gallery at Right Angles Framing, 401 East Main St. in Downtown Clayton from May through June 2008.  Thursday, May 22 will be the opening reception with wine, food and fun!
