Join us for a Celebration!
Every Spring the Johnston County Arts Council holds an Annual Meeting to report to the community what we have accomplished in the past year. We also take this opportunity to introduce and vote on new board members, as well as recognize individuals in the community that have contributed to the arts in Johnston County. This year we are honoring the visual arts teachers of the Johnston County Schools.
Each visual arts teacher has been invited to showcase art from their students in a way to demonstrate the talent we have in our students. AND teachers will be exhibiting their own art! With teaching and all of their other responsibilities, our art teachers rarely get an opportunity to share their own talents, so I’m really looking forward to that.
A Silent Auction of work created by local artists will be available and so far I have work by Doug Strickland, Janie Prete, Kathryn Adams, Kirk Adam, David Hupke, Larry Pendry, and Amy Devereaux. If you aren’t planning on coming to the Annual Meeting but are interested in bidding on some local, original art, let me know-we’re allowing bids by proxy.
The Annual Meeting will be held in the Great Hall of Johnston Community College in Smithfield on Tuesday, May 6th and will begin at 6:30pm. Music by the trio, Vintage Accents, will be provided before and during the dinner, which will be provided by Casey’s Catering. Tickets are just $35.00 per person and all proceeds will go to the programs of Johnston County Arts Council.
If you would like to attend, you can call me, Jessica Meadows, at 919-553-1930 or email at info@johnstoncountyarts.org OR you can contact any Art Council board member.
Help spread the word of this event as we come together to recognize those special people that make art happen every day in our schools!

I’ve read through this a few times and I’m pretty sure there isn’t a date mentioned. When is this event?
