A Celebration of the Artist, the late Frank Creech
The Johnston Community College Foundation and the Johnston County Arts Council, along with the College’s art faculty and other community groups, are collaborating to hold an evening of celebration to honor the late Frank Creech. The event, to be held on Friday, March 7, will also serve as a fundraiser to generate private gift support to remodel the College’s Art
Gallery.
Creech, a Smithfield artist and sculptor and longtime instructor and chair of the Art Department at JCC, inspired many with his passion and devotion to art and his community. He died unexpectedly in November 2006 at the age of 65.
The College Foundation plans to dedicate its 2008 Distinguished Citizen Celebration as a memorial tribute to Creech on March 7. A social will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Great Hall followed by a very special program to be held in the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium that same evening.
Tickets are available for the March 7 Creech celebration event at $75 per person or $150 per couple. In addition, the Foundation and Arts Council are seeking private gift contributions at five different levels to honor Creech, including Apprentice at $500, Technician at $1,000, Craftsman at $2,500, Artisan at $5,000 and Master Artisan at $10,000. There will be honors for donors, including artwork and a plaque designating the philanthropy in connection with the appeal.
Invitations will be sent out in early February by the College Foundation and Arts Council. For additional information about the Celebration Event, private gifts or how you and your company or organization might support this memorial effort to honor Creech, contact Judy Miller at 919.209.2115.
